Job summary

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust is seeking a FTC Payroll Officer to provide a comprehensive payroll service for NHS staff. You will work with colleagues to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time, in line with NHS terms and conditions.

The role requires sharp attention to detail and proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with payroll software such as Oracle or ESR is highly desirable, and the position may be offered as a trainee Band 3 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience of Oracle or ESR is highly desirable.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive payroll service to employees of NHS organisations.
• Work with other Payroll Officers and Team Leaders to ensure staff are paid accurately and on time.
• Prepare and complete pay and deduction data entries ensuring correct authorisation by managers in line with legislation and Trust policies.
• Validate and check data input by HR/Workforce and advise accordingly, including starters, leavers and changes of circumstances.
• Set up new starter bank account, tax code, National Insurance rate, and pension details/rate.
• Maintain records of sick/maternity leave/parental leave/adoption leave and calculate reduced pay, sending notice to managers and employees when applicable.
• Undertake manual calculations (PAYE, NI, SMP, SSP, etc.).
