Job summary

North East Learning Trust is seeking a proactive Payroll Officer to deliver and improve a modern, compliant payroll service across a growing Trust of 15 schools. You will support schools with term-time calculations, pensions, and payroll compliance while embedding self-service workflows for efficiency and accuracy.

The role offers flexibility in working patterns and requires strong payroll expertise in education or public sector settings, with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

Qualifications

• Strong payroll experience, ideally in education, schools, local government or another complex public sector setting.
• Understanding of term-time calculations, statutory payments, pensions and payroll compliance.

Responsibilities

• Process, check and reconcile payroll data across two payrolls.
• Use payroll and system knowledge to improve processes and support self-service for employees and managers.
• Communicate clearly with employees, schools, HR, Finance and pension providers with a proactive, customer-focused approach.
