Job summary

Pertemps Newcastle is recruiting a Wastewater Production Operator for Northumbrian Water in Washington on a full-time, temporary contract paying £14.62 hourly. Working Monday to Friday, 8am until 4pm, you will join the frontline team, ensuring safe, efficient operation of wastewater treatment works and protecting the environment.

The role requires practical plant experience, strong analytical ability, and a commitment to compliance within a safety-critical setting, with a focus on regulatory

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence required.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
• Experience operating and maintaining process plant or industrial assets.
• Ability to interpret operational data and adjust processes accordingly.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and fault finding.
• Comfort with control systems and basic IT.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain treatment works assets to meet standards.
• Optimise use of chemicals, energy and other resources.
• Carry out basic effluent and mixed liquor analysis.
• Interpret results and adjust processes accordingly.
• Use SCADA to monitor, fault-find and optimise plant.
• Carry out basic instrument calibration.
• Work safely and comply with health, safety and environmental policies.
