Job summary

On the Beach Group plc is seeking a Software Engineer (Frontend) to build and maintain production web applications that power customer experiences for millions of holidaymakers. You will work across React and TypeScript interfaces, backend services and APIs, and collaborate with product, UX/design and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes frontend excellence, cloud deployments in AWS, automated testing and a customer-focused approach in a fast-moving, high-traffic environment.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with React and TypeScript.
• Experience with modern JavaScript and frontend engineering practices.
• Experience designing performant, responsive and accessible user experiences.
• Experience developing and consuming backend APIs.
• Experience building and operating applications in a cloud environment such as AWS.
• Experience with automated testing across frontend and backend systems.
• Experience with application monitoring, observability and troubleshooting.
• Experience working closely with product, UX/design and engineering teams.
• Experience making pragmatic technical decisions in fast-moving product environments.
• Experience taking ownership of software from design through to production.
• Experience supporting and mentoring other engineers.
• Excellent frontend fundamentals and comfort working beyond the browser.
• Experience within ecommerce, travel, marketplaces or another high-traffic consumer platform would be useful, but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• We build and maintain production web applications.
• We create customer-facing experiences used by millions of holidaymakers.
• We work across React and TypeScript interfaces through to backend services and APIs.
• We develop and consume backend APIs.
• We work with backend services and understand how frontend applications interact with them.
• We build or support applications in a cloud environment such as AWS.
• We carry out automated testing across frontend and/or backend systems.
• We debug and troubleshoot production applications.
• We work collaboratively with product, UX/design and engineering teams.
• We make sensible technical decisions with support from more experienced engineers.
• We take responsibility for features from development through to production.
• We contribute positively to engineering discussions and code reviews.
