Job summary

Forged Solutions Group is seeking a hands-on Front End Operator to work across all open die forging operations including saws, presses and tooling in our Sheffield plant. The role demands flexibility to cover 24/5 and 24/7 shift patterns and occasional longer hours with no guaranteed overtime payment unless agreed.

You will ensure safe, efficient operation, follow SOPs, coach new operators, maintain 5S standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within a high-quality

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid FLT licence/competency
• Crane and Side Loader licences advantageous
• Experience in front-end operations and H&S
• Ability to work flexible shifts

Responsibilities

• Perform front-end operations across forging, presses, saws and tooling.
• Follow SOPs and methods of manufacture as per quality manual.
• Maintain high health and safety standards at all times.
• Provide training and coaching to new operators.
• Keep area tidy and follow 5S daily.
• Ensure equipment runs efficiently to meet production needs.
• Follow Work Safe instructions and operating procedures.
• Load/unload saws and report breakdowns.
• Prepare paperwork/route cards and ensure proper documentation.
• Complete furnace loading charts and inspection sheets.
• Redeploy to alternative work as required.
• Maintain TPM programme and pre-use checks.
• Perform any other adhoc duties.

Job description

Main Purpose of Job:

The post holder is required to work across all Front End operations functions including saws, forge and tooling. The individual must be able to respond quickly to the needs of the business and embrace change through team working, effective housekeeping, flexibility and continuous improvement.

Shift Pattern/Working Hours:

Your standard working hours per week will be an average 37.5 hours per week. You are required to be flexible to work shifts based on 24/5 and 24/7 patterns. The position is required to work such hours as necessary in order to satisfactorily perform the role. The role from time to time may require the working of longer hours and weekends. No payment will be made for any additional hours unless agreed prior to additional hours being worked.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

• To perform the Front-End Operations as required across the Open die forging, Closed die forging, Rings forging, Forge press, hydraulic press, saws and tooling.
• Work to the agreed Standard Operating Procedures – Methods of Manufacture as outlined in the quality manual.
• Practice and Enforce a high standard of Health and Safety at all times and ensure that the plant is operated safely
• Ensure that training/coaching is delivered to all new operators and that they are fully conversant with front end operations
• Maintain housekeeping of the area to a high standard and embrace the 5S Programme on a daily basis
• Ensure all equipment is run efficiently and effectively to meet production requirements, whether in billet or part form
• To ensure all Work Safe instructions and Operating procedures are followed at all times.
• Responsible including loading and unloading of the saws and reporting breakdowns to the relevant department
• Ensure all paperwork/route cards in relation to the department is correctly compiled, stamped and booked off in accordance with procedures
• Ensure that furnace loading charts and inspection sheets are correctly completed when operating that task and ensure the furnace chart is marked with reference to time of start and finish of each job
• Redeployment to alternative work if required
• Maintain the daily TPM programme and equipment pre-use check.
• Any other adhoc duties as required
