Job summary

LA International has a great opportunity for a Front End Engineer on a 12 month contract, hybrid in Leeds with up to 2 days on site per week. The role focuses on building and leading frontend work in React/TypeScript within an internal developer portal, with ownership of features and a strong emphasis on live support and code quality.

• Extensive frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
• Proficient in building and deploying frontend apps, with Jest-based testing.
• Experience deploying to Cloud platforms (Azure and Google Cloud).
• Version control with Git/GitHub and CI/CD awareness.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive a feature of the internal developer portal using Jira Align framework.
• Contribute to the platform roadmap and develop integrated frontend solutions.
• Build frontend apps in React/JavaScript or TypeScript and contribute code regularly.
• Lead by example with hands-on coding, tests, reviews, and documentation.
• Collaborate across teams and mentor junior colleagues on frontend topics.

Front End Engineer

12 Month contract initially + Extensions

Based: Hybrid - max 2 days p/w Onsite in Leeds

Rate: £375 - £425 p/d (via Umbrella company)

Key Responsibilities

• Own, lead and drive an aspect or feature of our internal developer portal via the Jira Align framework
• Contribute to the lab & platform roadmap to develop integrated solutions.
• For the Front end Roles - Contribute to the design and build of our Internal Developer Platform ecosystem building frontend applications within the React Framework in JavaScript or Typescript.
• Be hands-on and contribute code on a regular basis - leading by example.
• Be comfortable prototyping and developing reusable components, writing automated test scripts, performing code reviews and creating technical documentation.
• Be proficient in leading technical conversations with collaborators of varying levels of technical background, including Senior Management and other Subject Matter Experts.
• Collaborate across internal, external, and 3rd party teams, working closely with the other members of the team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of shared code libraries and collaborate with other technology teams.
• Provide leadership, education and mentoring to support junior colleagues and different teams on those topics, and drive upskilling.
• High focus on live support and building supportability into the application in our day to day work
• Extensive experience in writing frontend applications within the React Framework in JavaScript or Typescript
• Applied understanding of security best practises including secrets management, building into a CICD workflow
• Experience creating end-to-end automation testing as part of a release framework using common industry tools (e.g. Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)
• Integrating RESTful APIs in frontend Applications
• Building and maintaining CICD pipelines
• Applied familiarity with industry tools, NodeJS, Git/GitHub, Jest/React testing Library.
