Job summary

Handelsbanken is seeking a Front-End Developer to build and maintain responsive user interfaces using a React-based framework, with a focus on performance and code quality. You will work in an agile environment, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to knowledge transfer within the Front-End team.

The role emphasizes delivering clean, testable code and aligning with risk and compliance practices, while supporting a flexible working approach within the bank’s technology transformation

Qualifications

• Proficient in building responsive UIs and accessible interfaces.
• Strong experience with HTML5, CSS Modules, JS (ES9) and TypeScript.
• Hands-on React development and modern front-end tooling.
• Experience validating UI across Chrome and Edge browsers.
• Familiar with Scrum/Agile processes and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build, test and document applications using a React-based framework.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to produce clean, maintainable code.
• Lead or participate in Show and Tell sessions with stakeholders.
• Ensure knowledge transfer to the Front-End/UI team.

The opportunity

As a Front-End Developer You Will Be Responsible For

• Build, test and document applications, using an internally developed JavaScript / React based framework and associated utility classes
• Operate in an Agile/Scrum environment to produce high quality, clean, testable and maintainable code
• Lead / participate in Show and Tell sessions with Business and Technical Stakeholders
• Ensure knowledge transfer to the wider Front End / UI Development Team
• Act as the Front-End SME within the designated delivery team
• Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including sub-frameworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

• Excellent experience creating responsive UI’s using HTML5, CSS Modules, JavaScript (ES9 / 2018), TypeScript, RESTful API’s, React
• Excellent experience of building web applications that run on Chrome & Edge
• Ability to turn wireframes and visual UI designs into working applications
• Experience of working with Scrum and in a technical Agile environment (e.g. Build tools, Static/Dynamic code analysis, CI / CD pipelines e.g. Azure DevOps Pipelines)
• Strong unit testing experience in a React development environment (e.g. Jest, Vite)
