Job description

Multiverse is the upskilling platform for AI and Tech adoption.

We have partnered with 1,500+ companies to deliver a new kind of learning that's transforming today’s workforce.

Our upskilling apprenticeships are designed for people of any age and career stage to build critical AI, data, and tech skills. Our learners have driven $2bn+ ROI for their employers, using the skills they’ve learned to improve productivity and measurable performance.

In June 2022, we announced a $220 million Series D funding round co‑led by StepStone Group, Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst. With a post‑money valuation of $1.7bn, the round makes us the UK’s first EdTech unicorn.

But we aren’t stopping there. With a strong operational footprint and 800+ employees, we have ambitious plans to continue scaling. We’re building a world where tech skills unlock people’s potential and output.

Join Multiverse and power our mission to equip the workforce to win in the AI era.

The Opportunity

We believe the best user experiences are built on a foundation of exceptional engineering and thoughtful design. We’re looking for a Senior Front End Engineer to own the technical architecture and implementation of our Design System, helping us scale best‑in‑class UX to almost half a million learners.

This role sits at the intersection of engineering and design, but with a primary focus on technical execution. We’re looking for a strong engineer who is design‑minded and passionate about systems‑level thinking. You’ll work on our design system and other foundational frontend initiatives, with the freedom to explore how new technologies (AI, agentic tools) can transform the way we build.

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team, working as a key engineering partner alongside product design and brand. Our immediate focus: strengthening and evolving Multiverse’s design system so our suite of applications is performant, accessible, and consistent at scale.

Beyond that, you’ll explore how agentic workflows and AI‑powered tooling can unlock new ways of working—helping teams prototype, experiment, and roll out changes across applications in minutes, not days. You’ll define the engineering best practices for our design system, shape how engineering and design collaborate, and help prove out the next generation of front‑end development at Multiverse.

But wait, what do we mean by “agentic design system”?

We want to enhance our design system to a stage where changes can be made across our suite of applications in minutes, not days. We want to empower product and design to prototype and experiment without sacrificing quality through vibe‑coded interfaces. We want to give our developers and designers best‑in‑class tooling so they can focus on building quality products for users. We see agentic tooling as an unlock to enable new workflows and developer experience in all of these areas. This team will define and prove out this new way of working.

Specifically You Will
  • Architect, build, and maintain our scalable design system (React, TypeScript, Tailwind) collaborating with the AI Creator and foundational team on enhancing the strategic roadmap for the team
  • Ensure our component library is performant, accessible, and robustly tested to production standards (observability, accessibility, responsive quality).
  • Partner with engineers across product teams to drive adoption, integration, and delivery of a best‑in‑class developer experience.
  • Translate Figma concepts into reusable, production‑ready components, owning the technical implementation and component APIs.
  • Prototype and test new front‑end workflows that leverage AI and agentic tools.
  • Mentor other engineers to elevate front‑end craft and adoption of scalable systems; act as the technical consultant for designers on feasibility and implementation.
  • Contribute to our vision: enabling product and design to ship high‑quality experiences faster, with less friction.
About You
  • 5+ years in a senior frontend engineering role, with a proven track record of delivering production‑quality UIs.
  • Expert‑level knowledge of React, TypeScript, and modern front‑end tooling. (Experience with Tailwind is a strong plus).
  • Deep experience building, scaling, and maintaining a design system or similar foundational component library.
  • A strong understanding of (and passion for) web accessibility (WCAG) and core web performance metrics.
  • You have a strong eye for design and UX, and you're comfortable collaborating closely with designers to implement advanced motion, interaction, and brand elements and find the best technical solutions for their vision.
  • Experience with AI/agentic tooling or a strong curiosity to explore new technologies is highly desirable.
Benefits
  • Time off - 27 days holiday, plus 7 additional days off: 1 life event day, 2 volunteer days and 4 company‑wide wellbeing days and 8 bank holidays per year
  • Health & Wellness- private medical Insurance with Bupa, a medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership & wellness resources through Gympass and access to Spill - all in one mental health support
  • Hybrid work offering - 3 days a week in our London Paddington office and the opportunity to take part in our work‑from‑anywhere scheme
