Job summary

East West Rail Company is seeking a Front End & AI Developer in Milton Keynes to join the Data Centre of Excellence. You will build modern web apps and AI-enabled interfaces, collaborating with AI leads and Azure specialists to deliver data-driven dashboards and citizen development tooling.

You’ll work on integrating Copilot Studio, Foundry agents, and Microsoft technologies to enhance user experiences and drive adoption across the business.

Qualifications

• Proven front-end development experience with HTML, CSS and JS.
• Experience with modern frameworks like React or Angular.
• Interest in AI technologies and how they improve UX and productivity.
• Familiarity with APIs and cloud-based technologies.
• Experience with GitHub and collaborative workflows.

Responsibilities

East West Rail is a nationally significant railway project which aims to deliver much-needed transport connections for the vibrant communities between Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. Together these communities contribute around £111 billion to the national economy each year.

EWR is being championed by the Government as a key driver to economic growth leading to a potential £78 Billion boost to the UK economy: supporting new towns, housing, and regeneration.

We're looking for a talented Front End & AI Developer to join our growing Data Centre of Excellence team.

This is an exciting opportunity to help build the next generation of digital products, AI-powered applications and intelligent user experiences that will support one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes.

Working alongside our AI Lead, Azure Data Engineer and Power Platform specialists, you'll develop modern web applications, dashboards and AI-enabled solutions that bring together data, automation and cutting-edge Microsoft technologies. You'll also play a key role in helping colleagues adopt M365 Copilot, Copilot Studio and Foundry agents, driving innovation across the business.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and building modern, responsive web applications and digital interfaces
• Creating AI-powered user experiences using Microsoft AI technologies, Copilot Studio and Foundry agents
• Developing secure, scalable solutions using Microsoft technologies, APIs and Azure services
• Working with enterprise data to deliver dashboards, reporting tools and embedded analytics
• Collaborating with Power Platform specialists to create seamless user experiences across multiple technologies
• Supporting AI solution development, testing, documentation, user engagement and adoption
• Assisting with testing new capabilities within M365 Copilot, gathering user feedback and maintaining guidance and training materials
• Contributing to agile delivery, code reviews, testing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Helping establish best practices and reusable components that support citizen development and AI adoption.

What you'll bring

• Strong front-end development experience using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with modern frameworks such as React, Angular or similar
• A passion for creating accessible, user-focused and visually engaging digital experiences
• Knowledge of web application development, APIs and cloud-based technologies
• Experience with GitHub and collaborative software development practices
• An interest in AI technologies and how they can improve user experiences and business productivity
• Knowledge of Azure services and integration approaches
• Experience working with dashboards, analytics or data-driven applications
• Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform would be advantageous
• An interest in AWS technologies and a willingness to learn and develop AWS skills.
