East West Railway Company (that’s us) was created by the Department for Transport (DfT) to oversee the delivery of East West Rail from construction through to wheels in motion, making sure the railway comes together in the right way.

Role Summary

This is a great opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the project, collaborating with a variety of technical experts and stakeholders. The role will support the Correspondence Manager in responding to all incoming and outgoing communications related to stakeholder and community enquiries. This role ensures timely and accurate responses to all correspondence, maintaining a high standard of customer service and engagement.

Function

The Strategy, Sponsorship and External Affairs function is accountable for defining what EWR Co. is, and the impact it will deliver. It is accountable for securing the required approvals to deliver the scheme, being the custodian of the DCO submission, including statutory consultation, and building a compelling business case. It will hold design and delivery to account to create an asset which will realise the economic benefits.

We are open to applications on a full or part time basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to all correspondence.
  • Support the Correspondence Manager in the creation of templates and standard responses to frequently asked questions.
  • Maintain records of all communications and track response times.
  • Liaise with relevant EWR Co discipline leads and subject matter experts, obtaining technical details, to produce high quality work with an emphasis on effective and compelling communication.
  • Work closely with the Correspondence Manager to seek reviews and approvals for drafts.
  • Work with other Correspondence Executives to maintain a list of subject matter experts and store information for regular requests on the EWR Co ‘lines to take’ application.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Proven experience in correspondence and customer service, preferably within a large project.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be vital in this role, along with the ability to distill complex and technical material into key messages for different audiences.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities.
  • You should already be accustomed to managing and prioritising your work in response to competing demands, and you should be able to foster positive relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
  • Able to work unsupervised as well as being a team player, and to use initiative.
  • Competitive salary that reflects your skills and experience

  • Recognition programme, including on-the-spot and annual awards
  • Advanced learning and development opportunities to help you grow.
