Job summary

East West Rail Company is seeking a Data Analytics Developer to join our Data Centre of Excellence in Milton Keynes. You’ll work at the forefront of Microsoft Fabric and AI-enabled analytics, designing robust data models and engaging dashboards to drive business value.

You will collaborate with Azure Data Engineer and platform specialists to mature our data lake, govern data assets and deliver insights that inform strategic decisions across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric including lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, notebooks and semantic models.
• Strong Power BI skills including dashboard development and data modelling.
• Strong data modelling and data engineering experience with SQL and data ingestion.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data models, datasets and dashboards.
• Build solutions using Microsoft Fabric including lakehouses, warehouses and pipelines.
• Create Power BI dashboards for operational and strategic decisions.
• Help mature the enterprise data lake with governance and accessibility.

EWR is one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, which the government committed to delivering in full in the Autumn 2024 Budget, and again in the 2025 Spending Review as part of its ambition to unlock the potential of the Oxford to Cambridge Growth Corridor.

Role Summary:

As we continue to build a modern, data-driven organisation, we're looking for a talented Data Analytics Developer to join our growing Data Centre of Excellence (DCoE).

This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of Microsoft's data and AI ecosystem, helping to develop innovative analytics solutions that drive real business value. You'll play a key role in expanding our Microsoft Fabric capability, supporting the evolution of our enterprise data lake, and helping prepare EWR for the next generation of AI-powered decision making.

What you’ll be doing

Working closely with our Azure Data Engineer, Power Platform specialists and business stakeholders, you will:

• Design and develop robust data models, semantic models, datasets, dashboards and analytics products.
• Build and enhance solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines and notebooks.
• Create engaging and insightful Power BI dashboards that support operational and strategic decision making.
• Help develop and mature EWR's enterprise data lake, ensuring data is governed, accessible and AI-ready.
• Support the development of Fabric Data Agents, Microsoft Foundry solutions and AI-enabled analytics products.
• Work directly with stakeholders to translate business challenges into practical data solutions.
• Contribute to data governance, security, documentation and continuous improvement across our analytics estate.

What you’ll bring

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric including lakehouses, warehouses, pipelines, notebooks and semantic models.
• Advanced Power BI skills, including dashboard development, data modelling, DAX measures and reporting best practices.
• Strong data modelling and data engineering experience, including SQL, data ingestion, transformation and pipeline development.
• Experience working with modern data platforms and collaborating with data engineering teams.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to turn complex requirements into meaningful insights.
• Knowledge of data governance, security, permissions, lineage and enterprise reporting standards.

Ideally, you’ll also have exposure to:

• Microsoft Foundry
• Fabric Data Agents and AI-enabled analytics
• Service Principals and Azure App registrations
• API integrations and token-based authentication
• Agile delivery environments.
