Job summary

Stifford Clays Primary School is seeking a caring, effective and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a great opportunity for an established Cover Supervisor or an experienced Teaching Assistant who would like to build on their knowledge and skills.

The role is one day per week (Friday), 8.30am to 3.30pm (6 hours 30 minutes per week), 37 weeks per year (term-time only). We are a community-focused school for 2 to 11 year olds, located centrally in Thurrock.

Qualifications

• Maintaining a stimulating, purposeful learning environment.
• Working with children with SEND.
• Supervising activities that have been set.
• Providing feedback to the classroom teacher on the pupils’ progress against lesson plans and conduct.
• Keeping pupil-related records.
• Dealing with any immediate problems according to school policies and procedures.
• Collecting completed work at the end of the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
• Providing additional support to teachers or carrying out administrative tasks when not covering a class.
• Acting as a role model, setting high expectations of conduct and behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lessons and activities as assigned.
• Provide feedback on pupils’ progress to the classroom teacher.
• Support teachers with administration and non-classroom tasks.
• Maintain orderly, safe learning environments during lessons.
• Support pupils including those with SEND as directed.
