Job summary

Booker Group is seeking an experienced butcher to run our butchery department at 21 The Havens, Ransomes Europark, Ipswich. You will work with customers to develop their business knowledge of meat products and provide excellent service while managing stock and leading a small team.

The role offers the opportunity to run a butchery business with reduced financial risk, with emphasis on product knowledge and proactive sales growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in meat departments and hands-on butchery skills.
• Knowledge of meat proteins and cuts.
• Excellent customer service and communication with shoppers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards for meat displays, stock, and cleanliness.
• Develop a local business plan with the Store Manager to grow sales and profits.
• Greet and advise customers, answer questions, and process orders.
• Order and manage stock, including stocktaking and waste control.
• Supervise a small team and schedule staff rotas.
• Cut meat to order and ensure tools and equipment are well maintained.

About the role

We are looking for experienced Butchers to run our Butchery Departments like their own business. This is an exciting role where you will work with customers to develop their business, understand your local market and provide them with great service.

This role gives you the flexibility to run a butchery business without the financial risk. We want someone who has good product knowledge of all meat proteins, who is self-motivated with a desire to succeed.

Main Responsibilities

Maintaining high standards in all areas including; stock, food safety procedures including recording information, fresh meat and pre-packed meat displays, staff morale and customer satisfaction

You will work alongside the Store Manager to develop a business plan that will support the growth in sales and profitability of your department

Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, answering questions, accepting orders, and offering helpful advice with a smile

Ordering and managing stock - including stocktaking

Effectively developing and managing a small team including staff rota’s

Cutting meat to order

Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment

Coordinating deliveries or order pickups

Controlling waste
