Job summary

TVS Supply Chain Solutions is seeking an experienced Freight Operations Manager to lead daily operations for assigned accounts in the UK. You will manage import/export, billing, and customs procedures, coordinate with carriers, agents, and customers, and drive efficiency across the network.

The role requires 10+ years in freight forwarding, strong knowledge of pricing, and proven people management skills. You will monitor KPIs, ensure compliance, and support business growth through effective

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding or a related field.
• Significant experience in freight forwarding operations, typically 10+ years in a management role.
• Established working relationships with customers, airlines, shipping lines and agents.
• Strong knowledge of cargo service pricing and freight operations.
• Compliance with UK customs, trade, health and safety and data protection policies.
• Experience with financial reporting and customer management.

Responsibilities

• Manage import, export, billing and customs processes for assigned Freight Operations accounts.
• Coordinate with agents, carriers, vendors, overseas offices, COE and customers to ensure smooth transactions.
• Ensure customer satisfaction across all levels of operations.
• Support productivity enhancements and freight system digitalisation initiatives.
• Support carrier and agent selection and negotiate rates and pricing.
• Participate in bids, proposals and joint customer calls with local sales teams.
• Monitor KPIs and generate reports for management review.
• Coach and develop junior team members and ensure succession planning.
• Ensure adherence to Delegation of Authority and QIM policies.

Job Description: Manage daily operations of Freight Operations for assigned accounts. Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage the import, export, billing and customs processes and procedures for assigned Freight Operations accounts. Be responsible for day-to-day decision-making and ensure escalations are addressed promptly. Coordinate with agents, carriers, vendors, overseas offices, COE and customers to ensure smooth transactions. Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained across all levels of operations. Ensure that financial management, billing, and invoicing are carried out in a timely manner Support productivity enhancements within Freight Operations. Actively engage in freight system digitalisation initiatives across the network. Support corporate initiatives for Freight Solutions. Support the selection of carriers and agents and negotiate rates and pricing. Support commercial activities by providing freight solutions for target customers and assisting local sales efforts through joint customer calls, bids and proposal preparation. Participate in project bids and execution Monitor KPIs and ensure timely generation of reports for management review Ensure company policies and procedures, confidentiality requirements, and legal and ethical guidelines, such as the Delegation of Authority, are clearly communicated and adhered to. Coach and guide junior team members to ensure development and succession planning Observe and abide by the TSS-QIMM-01.6 Roles, Responsibilities and Authorities outlined in the QIM Manual. Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience: Degree or equivalent professional qualification/experience in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Freight Forwarding or a related field. Significant experience in freight forwarding operations, preferable in a management role, typically gained through 10+ years' relevant freight forwarding or equivalent experience. , Established working relationships with customers, airlines, shipping lines and agents, Strong knowledge of cargo service pricing and freight operations. Ensure operations comply with applicable UK customs, trade compliance, health and safety, data protection, company policies, and ethical standards. Working knowledge of financial reporting. Strong customer management skills. Good knowledge of freight management systems, including CargoWise, local customs and trade portals. Strong teamwork skills. Strong communication skills.
