Job summary

White Recruitment Limited is seeking a commercially minded Business Development Manager for a Leeds freight forwarding client. You will identify new business opportunities, build relationships and drive growth across air, sea and multimodal freight services.

The role offers a £55,000 basic salary with bonus incentives, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, a company pension, and healthcare after 3 years. Parking is provided on site with cycle to work schemes and clear progression paths.

Qualifications

• Experience in business development within freight forwarding or international logistics is essential.
• Strong understanding of air and sea freight, ideally alongside multimodal services.
• Proven ability to win new business and develop profitable customer relationships.
• Confident negotiating rates and presenting logistics solutions to customers.
• Commercially aware, proactive and motivated to achieve sales targets.
• A relationship builder who enjoys developing opportunities and seeing them through.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new business opportunities across the freight forwarding market.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.
• Drive sales growth, with a particular focus on air and sea freight services.
• Develop multimodal freight opportunities, including road transport.
• Identify customer requirements and deliver tailored logistics solutions.
• Prepare and present proposals, negotiate rates and close new business.
• Work closely with internal operations teams to ensure a smooth transition from sale to service delivery.
• Monitor market trends, identify opportunities and contribute to the wider commercial strategy.
