Job description

Due to growth in volumes, a position as a Freight Forwarder – European Full Loads has become available at DSV Road Ltd, Purfleet.

The person we are looking for must be self-driven, results-oriented, with a positive outlook and a focus on high-quality work and profitability.

The successful candidate, reporting to the department supervisor, will be responsible for arranging full load shipments and helping to increase our full load volumes in the European and Eastern European markets.

This role involves a mix of operational, administrative, and commercial tasks.

The applicant should have good financial awareness, be organized and punctual, possess good knowledge of the road freight industry, and have prior experience in transport and sourcing one-way hauliers.

We seek someone who can add quality to our skilled team and propose alternative solutions to challenges while working under pressure.

Main Purpose of Job:

To operate our import/export full load volumes using our trailers and subcontractors, collaborating with sales and other teams to grow the segment and find competitive solutions aligned with customer requirements.

This includes quoting spot prices and tenders for medium and large customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Arrange full load transports via road, rail, and short sea, negotiating prices where no tariff exists to maximize cost efficiency.
2. Arrange transports using curtain trailers, temperature-controlled trailers, and out-of-gauge equipment.
3. Provide high service levels within agreed schedules to meet customer requirements.
4. Source haulage, negotiate rates, and assess subcontractors to ensure they are approved and compliant with legal standards.
5. Coordinate with other DSV offices in the UK and abroad to generate new full load volumes.
6. Communicate with drivers and hauliers to resolve issues promptly.
7. Ensure compliance with legislation in all areas.
8. Operate within operational procedures and statutory requirements, maintaining a safe working environment.
9. Perform general administrative tasks, including cost checks, creating CMRs, and effective communication via various channels.
10. Plan collections and deliveries to meet customer needs efficiently, optimizing resource use.
11. Follow transport and customs regulations to ensure statutory compliance.
