Job summary

Assistive Solutions is seeking a Freelance Study Skills Tutor to provide one-to-one sessions in the York area, focusing on students with dyslexia and ASC. Sessions are typically one hour weekly, with flexible scheduling to meet individual needs and learning plans.

You will work as a freelancer, delivering personalised study skills strategies, recording progress, and coordinating with the invoicing process to ensure accurate monthly summaries for billing.

Qualifications

• Membership of a DSA-approved professional body for SpLD support.
• Degree level: Undergraduate degree (Level 6+).
• Teaching qualification required.
• Autism training completion (NAS NMH modules or Optimum Training).
• Experience providing 1:1 study skills support for SpLDs.
• Knowledge of organisational, time management, academic writing and independent learning strategies.
• Ability to tailor support to individual learning needs; student-centred delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; competence with assistive technology.
• Strong organisational skills and accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Deliver study skills sessions tailored to students with dyslexia and ASC.
• Develop and update individualised learning plans based on student needs and goals.
• Establish rapport to understand academic needs and preferred learning methods.
• Log sessions using the Assistive App and obtain signatures from student and tutor.
• Provide monthly session summaries for invoicing per company guidelines.
• Coordinate with invoicing team; send monthly summaries by the last day of each month.
