Job summary

Assistive Solutions is seeking a Freelance Study Skills Tutor to provide one-on-one study skills support to higher education students with dyslexia and ASC. Sessions are typically one hour, face-to-face in the Bournemouth area, and require adaptability to student needs.

You will develop personalised learning plans and maintain thorough records using the Assistive App. Ideal candidates have a degree, a teaching credential, and SN/DSA-related training, plus experience in higher education settings.

Qualifications

• Membership of a DSA-approved professional body for SpLD support (e.g., ADSHE, BDA, PATOSS, Dyslexia Guild).
• Degree level: undergraduate degree (Level 6 or above).
• Teaching qualification required.
• Autism-specific training completion (NAS NMH modules or Optimum Training Course).
• Experience providing 1:1 study skills support to students with SpLDs.
• Knowledge of strategies for organisation, time management, academic writing and independent learning.
• Ability to tailor support to individual learning needs and deliver student-centred sessions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Competence with assistive technology and ability to integrate it into study skills support.
• Strong organisational skills and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Deliver study skills sessions tailored to students with SpLDs.
• Develop and update individualised learning plans and adjust regularly.
• Establish rapport with students to understand academic needs and learning methods.
• Utilise the Assistive App to log sessions and maintain records with signatures.
• Provide monthly session summaries for invoicing and progress tracking.
• Coordinate monthly invoicing with the invoicing team by month end.
• Communicate with NMH admin for queries or support.
