Job summary

O’Neill and Brennan is seeking an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee a residential new-build project in Newport, South Wales. You will ensure safe, on-time progress, coordinate subcontractors and maintain build quality on a short-term assignment.

Availability from Friday 16th October to Monday 26th October. SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid are required, with excellent organisational and communication skills and a proactive approach to resolve issues quickly.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within residential new-build housing.
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, subcontractor management and quality control.
• Valid SMSTS, CSCS card and First Aid certification.
• Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to take ownership on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily site operations and coordinate subcontractors and trades.
• Monitor progress against the construction programme and maintain productivity.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and site standards are high.
• Carry out regular quality inspections and address defects or workmanship issues.
• Coordinate materials, labour and deliveries to maintain workflow.
• Keep plots and communal areas clean, safe, and organised.
• Liaise with subcontractors and internal teams to resolve site issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate site records, inspections and safety documentation.
• Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Provide clear updates on progress and outstanding works.

Freelance Site Manager – New Build Housing

Location: Newport, South Wales

Duration: Until Monday 26th October

We are currently recruiting an experienced Freelance Site Manager to provide short-term cover on a residential new-build development in Newport, South Wales.

Our client is an established UK housebuilder with a long-standing reputation for delivering quality homes across regional markets. The business places strong emphasis on construction standards, customer satisfaction, safe working practices and creating attractive residential communities.

The development forms part of a major regeneration area on the outskirts of Newport, delivering a collection of modern family homes within a growing residential neighbourhood. The scheme benefits from excellent transport links, with convenient access to the M4 and surrounding areas.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the development, ensuring site activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with the build programme and required quality standards.
