Job summary

Carrington West is recruiting a Freelance Site Engineer for a highways and infrastructure programme in the South West. You will work within a delivery team, setting out, surveying, and supporting site records and progress reporting on site.

The role requires strong setting out skills, CSCS, and a relevant engineering qualification. The work offers long‑term freelance opportunities with a solid pipeline of future projects.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Site Engineer on highways or civil engineering projects.
• Strong setting out skills.
• Proficient with Leica and/or Trimble surveying equipment.
• CSCS Card (essential).
• Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent).
• Ability to work independently while supporting the wider site team.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying works on site.
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records.
• Ensuring works are delivered to specification and programme.
• Liaising with the Site Agent, Supervisor and subcontractors.
• Supporting quality assurance and health & safety requirements.
• Assisting with progress reporting and as-built information.
