Job summary

Astute People is recruiting a Site Engineer – Highways near Penrith, Cumbria. The role focuses on delivery and control of site works across self-delivered and subcontracted packages, ensuring safety, accuracy and alignment with programme and quality standards.

The candidate should have 2–3+ years of site engineering experience on highways or major civil projects, with strong setting out, surveying and the ability to manage subcontractors. CSCS card and full UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of site engineer experience on highways or major civil projects.
• Experience delivering works on self-delivered and subcontracted packages.
• Strong setting out and surveying expertise and ability to read drawings and specs.
• Valid CSCS Card and full UK driving licence are essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and dimensional checks across site activities.
• Maintain survey records and as-built drawings.
• Read and interpret earthworks, drainage and reinforcement drawings.
• Coordinate subcontractors and monitor progress against programme.
• Produce method statements, risk assessments, and daily site records.
