Kenton Black are recruiting for a Freelance Site Engineer on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor in Aberdeenshire. Role: Freelance Site Engineer, Location: Peterhead, Duration: 6 Months+, Start Date: ASAP.

You will carry out setting out and surveying for substation works, ensure drawings and specifications are followed, maintain site records, and support the site management team. The project emphasizes QA, health and safety, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Engineer on civil, infrastructure or substation projects.
• Proficient with Leica/Trimble surveying equipment.
• Solid understanding of QA procedures and engineering documentation.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Valid CSCS Card; SMSTS/SSSTS preferred.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and surveying duties for substation and related works.
• Ensure works align with design drawings, specs and requirements.
• Maintain accurate site records, as-built information, and daily reports.

Our client, a reputable infrastructure contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support ongoing substation works in Peterhead. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major energy project, where you will play a key role in setting out, quality assurance, and ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and surveying duties for substation and associated civil engineering works
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Maintain accurate site records including as-built information, quality documentation, and daily reports
• Support the site management team with planning and coordination of site activities
• Liaise with subcontractors and project stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of works
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with project standards
• Promote and maintain strong health & safety standards across the site

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on civil engineering, infrastructure, or substation projects
