Job summary

Kenton Black is recruiting a Freelance Site Engineer for a major substation project in Peterhead. This contract role focuses on setting out, QA, and ensuring safe, compliant delivery on site. Start date ASAP with a 6+ month+ engagement and competitive CIS/Ltd rate based on experience.

You will work with a leading civil infra contractor on a high-profile energy project, coordinating with the site management team and subcontractors to maintain project standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Experience as Site Engineer on civil/infra or substation projects.
• Proficient with surveying equipment such as Leica or Trimble.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• CSCS card holder; SSSTS/SMSTS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and surveying for substation and civil works.
• Ensure works align with design drawings and specs.
• Maintain site records, QA documents and daily reports.
• Support site management with planning and coordination.
• Liaise with subcontractors and stakeholders for delivery.
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure safety standards.

Kenton Black are recruiting for a Freelance Site Engineer on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor within the Aberdeenshire area.

Role: Freelance Site Engineer

Location: Peterhead

Duration: 6 Months+

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: Competitive CIS/Ltd Company Rate (Dependent on Experience)

Our client, a reputable infrastructure contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support ongoing substation works in Peterhead. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major energy project, where you will play a key role in setting out, quality assurance, and ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out setting out and surveying duties for substation and associated civil engineering works
• Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and project requirements
• Maintain accurate site records including as-built information, quality documentation, and daily reports
• Support the site management team with planning and coordination of site activities
• Liaise with subcontractors and project stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of works
• Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with project standards
• Promote and maintain strong health & safety standards across the site
• Assist in resolving technical issues and provide engineering support throughout the project

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on civil engineering, infrastructure, or substation projects
• Proficient in setting out using Leica, Trimble, or equivalent surveying equipment
• Strong understanding of QA procedures and engineering documentation
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Valid CSCS Card
• SSSTS or SMSTS preferred
• Full UK Driving Licence
