Job summary

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting a Freelance Civil Site Engineer to work on a groundworks and muckshift package for social housing upgrades in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

The contract runs from September 2026 to mid-2027 with potential for further phases. Duties include surveying levels, setting out services, creating as-built records, QA management, RFIs/TQs, and supporting the Site Manager.

Qualifications

• Must have proven experience as Site Engineer within groundworks / civils.
• Experience with GPS and Total Station.
• Ability to process volume reports.
• CSCS card and full driving license.
• Industry related qualification beneficial (HNC/HND or Degree).

• Survey existing levels and keep on top of volumes of cut to evidence when claiming in application.
• Set out all services as per GPR and keep records of all exposed and potentially lowered.
• Survey existing and setting out of all new footpaths, steps and fencing.
• Create as built records throughout, of all works.
• Manage the QA side of delivery.
• Raise RFIs and TQ's.
• Support the Site Manager.

Elvet Recruitment are recruiting for a Freelance Civil Site Engineer on behalf of a reputable civil engineering contractor to work on a new upcoming project in Selly Oak, Birmingham.

The contractor are delivering a varied groundworks & muckshift package for social housing upgrades. The work will include: topsoil strip, paving, road upgrades, surfacing, services and some landscaping & external works.

The project will run from September 2026 to mid-2027, with potential further phases to be confirmed.

• Set out all services as per GPR and keep records of all exposed and potentially lowered
• Survey existing and setting out of all new footpaths, steps and fencing
• Create as built records throughout, of all works
• Manage the QA side of delivery
• Raise RFI's and TQ's
• Support the Site Manager

Experience required

• Must have proven experience as Site Engineer within groundworks / civils
• Must be confident with use of GPS and Total Station
• Must have the ability to process volume reports
• Industry related qualification is beneficial (HNC/HND or Degree)
• Ideally have own kit but not essential
• Must hold: CSCS card and full driving license

Pay

A rate of up to £350 per day (doe).

Can be paid CIS. Or Ltd company outside IR-35 providing contractors meet requirements.
