Job summary

JT Search in the West Midlands is seeking a Site Engineer to support site management, oversee setting out, surveying and QA on civil engineering projects.

You will coordinate with Site Agents and Project Managers, review RAMS/ITPs, and ensure safety, quality and timely delivery across highways, infrastructure, utilities or structures.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience on highways, infrastructure, utilities, groundworks, drainage or structures.
• Setting out, surveying and quality assurance skills.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities.
• CSCS card required; SMSTS/SSSTS and First Aid are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure works are safe and follow approved method statements and risk assessments.
• Oversee setting out and surveying to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Interpret and implement design drawings and technical documentation.

• Inspect and test completed works and maintain QA records.
• Prepare RAMS, ITPs and as-built documentation.
• Identify and resolve technical or construction challenges promptly.
• Maintain detailed site records including progress reports and material tracking.

We are seeking a Site Engineer to join our clients team working across projects in West Midlands.

Responsibilities

As a Site Engineer, you will take ownership of a specific section of the project to support site management and deliver technical excellence. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and supervising engineering works within your designated section of the project.
• Ensuring all works are executed safely and align with approved method statements, risk assessments, and company policies.
• Overseeing setting out and surveying activities to ensure work accuracy and quality, adhering to project specifications.
• Interpreting and implementing design drawings, technical documentation, and specifications.
• Coordinating with Site Agents, Project Managers, and client representatives to maintain clear communication and efficient project execution.
• Leading and briefing site engineers and subcontractors to meet project milestones and quality requirements.
• Inspecting and testing completed works, maintaining thorough and accurate records to support project QA (Quality Assurance) processes.
• Preparing and reviewing RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements), ITPs (Inspection Test Plans), and as-built documentation.
• Identifying and resolving technical or construction challenges promptly and effectively.
• Maintaining detailed site records, including progress reports and material tracking.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should bring a combination of technical expertise, communication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. Qualifications include:

• A degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Proven experience working on civil engineering projects such as highways, infrastructure, utilities, groundworks, drainage, or structures.
• Strong skills in setting out, surveying, and quality assurance.
• A thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• CSCS card is required; SMSTS/SSSTS and First Aid certifications are desirable.
