Freelance Section Engineer – Rail Civil Site Lead

Job summary

EKFB, in Buckingham, is recruiting a Section Engineer on a freelance basis to lead the site engineering team from construction to close out for HS2 works. You will manage setting-out, assist with temporary works, and coordinate labour, plant and materials to meet programme and budget.

You will report to the Sub Agent and oversee development of Site Engineers while resolving technical issues and ensuring subcontractors align with contract requirements.

Qualifications

• HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Working towards ICE membership is preferred.
• Proven site engineering and supervision experience on civil works.
• Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage.
• Must hold a full driving license and have access to a vehicle.
• CSCS card (White, White-Yellow, Red - Experienced, Black - Manager or Gold - Supervisor).
• SSSTS/SMSTS qualification is required.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Sub Agent and supervise the site engineering team from construction to close out.
• Assist with temporary works design schemes and allocate labour, plant and materials to works.
• Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub-Agent.
• Monitor and coordinate subcontractors to meet contractual requirements.
• Assist with programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, and forecasting.
• Contribute to maintaining current information and resources for the team.
