Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group is seeking a Freelance Quantity Surveyor for ongoing M&E and HVAC projects in Tyneside. You will manage commercial aspects across NEC or JCT contracts, budgets and cashflows, and coordinate with subcontracts and clients.

UK driving licence preferred; day rate £300–£400 per day CIS with weekly Friday payments. This is long-term, ongoing work for a reliable QS with 4+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years previous experience as a QS preferably with M&E.
• Strong knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts.
• UK driving licence is preferred.
• Day rate flexible.
• Weekly pay on a Friday paid by CIS.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC projects.
• Manage project costs, budgets and forecasts throughout the full project life cycle.
• Prepare and submit interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
• Identify, value and negotiate variations, change orders and contractual claims.
• Support the procurement and commercial management of subcontractor and supplier packages.
• Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations and payment certifications.
• Administer and support projects operating under JCT and NEC forms of contract.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, ensuring appropriate action is taken throughout project delivery.
• Monitor project performance and prepare accurate commercial and cost reports for senior management.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure commercial requirements are understood and maintained.
• Liaise professionally with clients, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Support the successful commercial close-out of projects, including agreement of final accounts.

We are hiring for a Freelance Quantity Surveyor for our client for ongoing projects based in Tyneside. Our client work nationally installing air conditioning, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical. This is ongoing work with many upcoming projects working on both NEC and JCT projects, starting ASAP.
