Role Description:

We are looking for a strategic, execution-focused freelancer to help us build and grow targeted audiences within medical specialties—starting with ophthalmology.

This is not a traditional marketing role.

We’re not looking for someone to run Instagram ads or chase social media trends.

We’re looking for someone who understands how medical specialists—like ophthalmologists—actually consume information, and who knows how to get content in front of them through high-trust channels like:

  • Specialty-specific publications
  • Medical societies and newsletters
  • LinkedIn, Substack, and select professional communities
  • Specialist events and conference newsletters
  • Hospital or academic network distributions

In this role you will:

  • Map out key distribution channels to reach ophthalmologists and relevant industry professionals (pharma, medtech, researchers)
  • Build and execute a targeted outreach strategy to promote expert-led reports and grow email subscriber lists
  • Identify and engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), societies, and publications for distribution or endorsement
  • Help us create a repeatable audience-building system we can apply to other specialties (e.g., oncology, neurology, cardiology)
  • Proven experience in medical marketing, medical communications, or healthcare audience development
  • Deep understanding of how to engage with healthcare professionals (HCPs), especially in a B2B or clinical context
  • Experience working with healthcare media, pharma/medtech stakeholders, or clinician networks is a plus
