SILA Linguists is a language services company that recruits freelance German interpreters and translators for business, legal, technical and public service assignments in the UK and beyond.

As a German linguist, you can take on the full range of work we offer in German, including interpreting (face-to-face, telephone, video) and translation of documents, with confidentiality and UK GDPR applied to every assignment.

Competenze

• Full professional fluency in both German and English.
• Qualifications such as the DPSI, DPI or a translation degree; CIOL, ITI or NRPSI membership is welcome.
• Specialist knowledge in a technical, legal or financial field is an advantage.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check, required for some assignments.
• For on-site work in the UK, the right to work in the UK.
• Reliable internet access and suitable equipment (computer or phone with headset) for video and telephone work.

SILA Linguists® recruits freelance German interpreters and translators for business, legal, technical and public service assignments. Specialist translators in technical, legal and financial fields are especially welcome.

German speakers in the UK come from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and many work in business, academia, engineering and healthcare. Requests for German are often commercial: contracts, technical documentation, financial reports and marketing for German-speaking markets, where terminology differs between Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Public service work also arises, including medical appointments, courts, police and family law matters involving German-speaking clients.

Responsibilities

• For on-site work in the UK, the right to work in the UK.

• German interpreting of every type: face-to-face, telephone (OPI) 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, video (VRI) through the SILA Linguists® app or the client's platform, consecutive, simultaneous, conference and remote simultaneous (RSI), community and escort interpreting.
