Job summary

Linear Recruitment Ltd. seeks an Electrical Design Engineer for water and wastewater projects in Sheffield. You will design electrical systems for pumps, motors, and control panels, and deliver drawings, specifications, and load calculations for on-site installation and commissioning.

The role involves coordinating with civil, mechanical, instrumentation and ICA engineers, ensuring safe and reliable designs, and supporting project handover and final documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (HNC/HND accepted).
• Proven detailed electrical design experience.
• Experience in water, wastewater, utilities or infrastructure sectors.
• Ability to work with multiple disciplines and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for water and wastewater plants and pumping stations.
• Produce electrical drawings, schematics, layouts and specifications.
• Design and review power distribution systems, motor control and electrical installations.
• Prepare cable schedules, load schedules, single-line diagrams and equipment specifications.
• Support MCCs, distribution boards and control panels.
• Calculate loads, cable sizes, voltage drops and protection requirements.
• Coordinate with mechanical and control engineers for integration.
• Check designs meet standards, project specs and client requirements.
• Review supplier/subcontractor proposals.
• Support site teams with technical queries and issue resolution.
• Assist with inspections, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Help prepare operation and maintenance manuals and as-built drawings.
• Identify opportunities to improve safety and energy efficiency.
