Job summary

Bimplus is seeking a Freelance Design Manager for a MOD Fire Safety scheme in Haverigg. Hybrid work: 3 days on-site, 2 days from home.

You will coordinate fire safety design, ensure on-time delivery, and comply with fire safety regulations on a regulated government project. The role requires proven design management experience in construction and the ability to manage multiple consultants while maintaining design programmes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within the construction sector.
• Experience delivering secure government, defence, custodial, or highly regulated projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of design coordination and technical compliance.
• Ability to manage multiple consultants and maintain design programmes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the design process of fire safety.
• Ensure design information is delivered on time to meet programme requirements.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant fire safety legislations.
• Coordinate fire strategies, compartmentation plans and and passive/active fire protective systems.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements, security standards, and buildability.
• Lead design team meetings and manage the flow of information between stakeholders.
• Work closely with site and commercial teams to resolve design issues and maintain project progress.
• Ensure design solutions meet MOD and secure facility requirements.

We are looking for a Freelance Design manager for our working on an MOJ FSI Fire Safety scheme. This is for a main contractor on a MOD fire improvements project, security clearance is not essential as contractor can put you through the clearance. This is a hybrid working position with 3 days on-site and 2 days working from home.

Key Responsibilities of the Freelance Design Manager:

• Manage and coordinate the design process of fire safety.
• Ensure design information is delivered on time to meet programme requirements.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant fire safety legislations.
