Job summary

Cobalt Consulting (UK) Ltd invites an experienced Freelance Site Manager to lead a social housing fire safety project, taking responsibility for day-to-day delivery on site.

Start date 5 October 2026; project duration until December 2027; hours 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday. This long-term freelance role requires strong safety and coordination skills to manage internal and external works while minimising disruption to residents.

Qualifications

• SMSTS, CSCS Card and First Aid at Work required.
• Proven site management experience in social housing or occupied properties.
• Experience managing fire safety, fire remediation or compliance works.
• Experience coordinating internal and external works.
• Excellent health and safety knowledge.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient IT skills: email, MS Office, spreadsheets and PM systems.
• Familiarity with RAMS, permits, inductions and toolbox talks.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of site operations.
• Oversee fire safety and remediation works.
• Coordinate internal and external work packages.
• Manage subcontractors and ensure progress against programme.
• Maintain health and safety standards on site.
• Carry out site inspections and keep records.
• Liaise with residents, client reps and stakeholders.

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee a social housing fire safety project, managing both internal and external works.

Start Date: 5th October 2026

Project Duration: Until December 2027

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

This is a long-term freelance opportunity for an experienced Site Manager who can take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Day-to-day management of site operations
• Overseeing fire safety and fire remediation works
• Managing internal and external work packages
• Managing and coordinating subcontractors
• Ensuring works are completed in line with programme and quality requirements
• Maintaining high health & safety standards across the site
• Carrying out site inspections and maintaining site records
• Liaising with residents, subcontractors, client representatives and other stakeholders
• Managing RAMS, permits, inductions and toolbox talks
• Monitoring progress and reporting against programme
• Maintaining accurate records and completing required reports using company IT systems
• Ensuring disruption to residents is kept to a minimum

Essential Requirements

• Experience managing fire safety, fire remediation or compliance works
• Experience managing both internal and external works
• Strong health & safety knowledge

• Good IT skills - confident using email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and site/project management systems

Experience managing fire doors, compartmentation, passive fire protection, external remediation and similar fire compliance works would be advantageous.
