Job summary

Manpower are seeking an interim Fragrance Team Laboratory Assistant to support Unilever’s Fragrance House at the Port Sunlight facility. The role is full-time for 6 months, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, paying up to £29,000 per annum pro rata depending on experience.

You will prepare samples for the UFH perfumery team, work within a dynamic, multi-cultural environment, and adhere to SOPs and safety guidelines while collaborating with the fragrance R&D groups globally.

Qualifications

• Science background preferred, ideally A-Level.
• GCSE-level science will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Job description

Manpower are currently seeking an interim Fragrance Team Laboratory Assistant to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment. The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £29,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience. This role sits within the Unilever Fragrance House team working across all Unilever Business Groups globally, alongside the fragrance R&D teams. The main part of this role is to prepare samples for the UFH perfumery team. You will work as part of a broader team; working proactively, flexibly and independently in a fast-paced, multi-functional, multi-cultural environment; adhering to prescribed procedures and health and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Accurately prepare samples across all business groups (Homecare; Beauty and Wellbeing and Personal Care)
• Accurately record all laboratory work
• Safely handle and label all products
• Work closely with laboratory team and programme manager to ensure samples are prepared on time
• Ensure all equipment and laboratory areas used are kept clean
• Comply with all safety and lab management procedures (Risk Assessment, Health Safety, Laboratory management, Standard Procedures)
• Update project team on challenges and timing changes

Key Requirements

• Science background preferred, ideally A-Level, but GCSE-level science will also be considered
• Practical experience in preparing samples within a controlled laboratory environment would be useful
• Curiosity and interest in both fragrance and fragranced products is highly desirable
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work alone as required
• Awareness of safety within the laboratory ideally including working to standard operating procedures, risk assessment and CoSHH
• Highly motivated; numerate with great attention to detail and an interest in products and fragrances
• Ability to communicate clearly around deadlines and challenges
• Digitally literate
• Ability to stay calm under changing priorities
