Job summary

Sharp Consultancy is seeking an experienced FP&A Lead for a 6-month fixed-term contract in Leeds city centre within the retail sector. The role focuses on driving business performance through insightful financial analysis, forecasting and strategic planning.

You will partner with senior leadership to provide financial insight, challenge assumptions, and support key business decisions, ensuring robust budgeting, rolling forecasts and timely reporting across the organization.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations and financial insights for the Board and senior leadership.
• Provide detailed analysis to evaluate opportunities, support decisions, and identify risks and performance improvements.
• Own and deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting packs and ad hoc analysis for senior management and external stakeholders.
• Lead budgeting and strategic planning with long-term forecasting across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
• Develop KPI reporting and provide recommendations to drive performance improvements.
• Support forecasting, challenge assumptions, and align operational plans with business objectives.
• Assist with annual budget cycle and rolling two-year financial plan.
• Contribute to monthly management reporting with insightful commentary.
• Provide sales and margin analysis across channels and regions.
• Collaborate with Finance Director on a broad range of corporate finance activities.
• Build relationships across finance and non-finance teams.

A highly successful and growing retail business based in Leeds city centre is seeking an experienced FP&A Lead to join the finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to play a pivotal role in driving business performance through insightful analysis, forecasting, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement. Working closely with senior leadership, you will provide the financial insight and challenge needed to support key business decisions and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality presentations and financial insights for the Board, senior leadership team, and external stakeholders.
• Provide detailed analysis to evaluate commercial opportunities, support strategic decision-making, and identify key risks, trends, and performance improvement opportunities.
• Own and deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting packs, alongside ad hoc analysis for senior management and external stakeholders.
• Lead and support a robust budgeting and strategic planning process, including long‑term forecasting across Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.
• Develop and drive meaningful KPI reporting, providing recommendations to leadership on performance measures that will deliver tangible business improvements.
• Support the forecasting process, challenging assumptions, investigating variances, and ensuring operational plans are aligned with business objectives.
• Assist with the annual budget cycle and rolling two-year medium‑term financial plan.
• Support the maintenance and development of the 13-week rolling cash flow forecast.
• Contribute to the monthly management reporting process, delivering insightful analysis and commentary.
• Provide sales and margin analysis across channels, business units, and geographical regions.
• Partner closely with the Finance Director on a broad range of corporate finance and financial management activities.
• Build strong relationships across both finance and non‑finance teams, including Sales, Operations, and HR, acting as a trusted business partner.

You will be comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment, translating complex financial information into actionable business insights.
