Job summary

Marks and Spencer is seeking a commercially astute FP&A Finance Manager for their Food Finance team in London. You will play a pivotal role in shaping strategic decisions, driving performance, and providing financial insights for one of UK's beloved retailers. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong analytical skills and experience in a retail or FMCG environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with post-qualification experience.
  • Strong FP&A or commercial finance background, ideally in retail.
  • Experience with financial systems focused on improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Produce month-end financial packs and lead P&L reporting.
  • Deliver financial modelling and KPI reporting for decision support.

What you’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include

  • Planning & Forecasting: Lead monthly reforecasts, annual budgets, and 5-year strategic plans, consolidating inputs across the Food business and highlighting risks and opportunities to senior finance leaders.
  • Performance Reporting: Produce and enhance month-end packs (P&L, working capital, capex), lead Online & Franchise P&L reporting, and ensure alignment with Group Finance and Investor Relations standards.
  • Cashflow & Systems: Own free cashflow forecasting and variance analysis, and drive improvements in Power BI dashboards and reporting accuracy.
  • Strategic Analysis: Deliver ad hoc financial modelling and scenario planning, lead KPI reporting, and collaborate with Strategy and Commercial teams on scorecard development.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Act as a key member of the Food Finance leadership team, deputise for the SFM, and coach Analysts to build a high-performance FP&A function.

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience.
  • Strong FP&A or commercial finance background, ideally in retail, FMCG, franchise, or wholesale environments.
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver clear, actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills — able to influence both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience with Power BI and financial systems, with a focus on continuous improvement and automation
