Job summary

Blue Sky Fostering in Ringwood, Dorset, is looking for a Social Work Assistant to support foster placements with children and young people. The role involves direct work, visits to carers, and helping implement care plans within a multidisciplinary team.

You will engage in activities and events, promote wellbeing, and contribute to safeguarding and high-quality support for families. Flexibility including occasional evenings/weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding principles and child-centred practice.

Responsibilities

• Undertake direct work with children and young people, including targeted interventions and support programmes.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Identify and encourage individual strengths, interests and aspirations.
• Support young people to engage in recreational, leisure, and social activities.
• Promote engagement with care plans and personal goals.
• Assist with participation projects and gather feedback from children and young people.
