Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking an experienced Fostering Service Manager (G10) to lead Foster Wales Cardiff. The role oversees assessment, approval and support services across fostering and related initiatives, delivering high-quality practice for care-experienced children.

Based at County Hall, Cardiff with hybrid/home working options, the post requires substantial management experience, Social Work qualification and registration with Social Care Wales to drive strategic and operational performance

Qualifications

Professional Social Work qualification (BSc, MA, DipSW or equivalent).
Current active registration with Social Care Wales.
Significant post-qualifying management experience in a complex statutory fostering service.
Comprehensive knowledge of statutory fostering duties, SGOs, Connected Persons, and "When I Am Ready" initiatives.
Willingness to travel within Cardiff county.

Responsibilities

Lead Foster Wales Cardiff and oversee assessment, approval and support services across mainstream fostering and related schemes.
Drive practice excellence and ensure safety and positive outcomes for care-experienced children and young people.
Support and guide a team of Principal Social Workers, Social Workers and Support Workers.
Collaborate with internal partners to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance.
