Job summary

Databricks Inc. in London is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead a delivery team of 8+ ICs, building and productionizing data and AI solutions on the Databricks platform.

You will ensure high-quality execution and drive professional services outcomes while nurturing elite engineering talent. Responsibilities include aligning delivery with customer goals, removing blockers, and coaching engineers on secure, scalable deployments across AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of technical experience with 2+ years in leading or mentoring high-caliber technical teams in data engineering, data platforms, software engineering, or AI/ML.
• Strong technical background spanning Apache Spark, Python/Scala, cloud ecosystems (AWS/Azure/GCP), CI/CD, and MLOps/GenAI.
• Databricks Certification required (or path to completion).

Responsibilities

• Connect your team’s day-to-day work to real customer outcomes and business impact, sharing customer wins and delivery successes.
• Reinforce top delivery priorities, focusing on high-impact work and removing blockers using delivery data and PS KPIs.
• Hire strong PS talent using structured interviews and practical delivery scenarios, ensuring regular coaching and accountability.
• Remove delivery blockers quickly with automation or AI assistants and maintain inspection rhythms (standups, reviews, retrospectives).
• Translate Databricks’ Culture Principles into concrete day-to-day behaviors across customer interactions.
• Coach ICs on secure, scalable deployment patterns, governance and production readiness across AWS/Azure/GCP.
