Job summary

Albert Bartlett in Airdrie is seeking a Forklift Supervisor on a permanent backshift to lead a production team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and quality, with day-to-day supervision of colleagues and close cooperation with Production Managers and other departments.

You will drive performance, support employee development, and ensure processes meet food safety, quality, and health & safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising in food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Counterbalance forklift license required.
• Strong people management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of production operatives to hit daily targets safely.
• Monitor staffing levels and allocate resources effectively.
• Ensure food safety, quality, and GMP compliance.
• Drive performance and continuous improvement across the shift.
• Collaborate with Engineering, QA, Warehouse and Planning teams.
• Conduct team briefings and performance reviews.
• Monitor KPIs and take corrective action.
• Support training and onboarding of new team members.

Forklift Supervisor - Backshift

Fresh Business Unit | Airdrie

Salary: £13.96 per hour + £0.50 per hour backshift allowance

Hours: 40 hours per week

Shift Pattern: Sunday 09:00-17:00, Monday-Thursday 17:00-01:00

Weekend Requirement: 1 in 3 Saturdays

We are currently looking for a motivated and hands-on Forklift Supervisor to join our Fresh Business Unit on a permanent backshift basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor or team leader looking to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

As a Forklift Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a production team to ensure daily targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with Production Managers and other departments, you will drive performance, support employee development, and ensure all processes are carried out in line with food safety, quality, and health & safety requirements.

Requirements

• Lead, motivate and develop a team of production operatives.
• Ensure production plans and targets are achieved.
• Monitor staffing levels and allocate resources effectively.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, quality, and GMP.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the shift.
• Conduct team briefings and performance discussions.
• Ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Work collaboratively with Engineering, QA, Warehouse, and Planning teams.
• Monitor KPIs and take corrective action where required.
• Support training and onboarding of new team members.

• Previous supervisory experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, production, or a similar fast-paced environment.
• Current Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence (internal or external)
• Strong people management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead by example and drive team performance.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of food safety and health & safety standards.
• Comfortable working in a target-driven environment.
• Flexible approach with the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
