Job summary

Workchain is seeking an experienced forklift operator for an outdoor yard in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. The role involves loading/unloading, moving pallets, and keeping the yard tidy and safe.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, with full waterproof PPE and workwear provided. Candidates should have a valid FLT licence and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid FLT qualification or licence.
• Experience operating a forklift in yard/warehouse preferred.
• Good awareness of health and safety.
• Ability to stack/move pallets safely and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading vehicles.
• Moving pallets to correct storage areas.
• Ensure pallets are stacked safely before lifting.
• Straighten pallet stacks before lifting.
• Restack toppled pallets before continuing duties.
• Maintain a safe, organised working environment.
• Follow site health and safety procedures.

Role Description

This role involves operating a forklift truck within an outdoor yard, moving pallets safely and efficiently while helping to keep the site organised.

Duties

• Loading and unloading vehicles.
• Moving sorted pallets to the correct storage areas around the yard.
• Ensuring pallets are stacked safely, securely and correctly before moving them.
• Straightening pallet stacks where necessary before lifting.
• Restacking any pallets that topple over during movement before continuing with other duties.
• Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
• Following site health and safety procedures at all times.

What we're looking for

• A valid and suitable FLT qualification or licence.
• Experience operating a forklift truck, ideally in a yard or warehouse environment.
• A strong awareness of health and safety.
• The ability to stack and move pallets safely and accurately.
• A reliable, responsible attitude and good teamwork skills.
• The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Candidates must be confident operating an FLT in a busy outdoor yard and be willing to carry out the practical duties associated with pallet handling and stacking.
