RE Personnel is recruiting a Counterbalance Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant in Cheltenham for a full-time, permanent role. You will operate a counterbalance forklift and support yard operations while assisting customers and maintaining a safe, tidy workspace.

Training can be provided if you have the right attitude; previous forklift experience is a plus, but not essential. The role offers development opportunities within a well-established local business.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload customer and supplier vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck.
• Pick and prepare customer orders for collection and delivery.
• Assist customers within the yard and provide excellent service.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Handle stock and building materials safely.
• Support the wider team with general yard and warehouse duties.
• Carry out daily forklift safety and equipment checks before operation.
• During probation, lifting and basic duties may be required.

Our client, a well-established and highly respected builders' merchant based in Cheltenham, has an exciting opportunity for a Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis due to continued business growth.

The successful Counterbalance Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant should have:

• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good communication and customer service skills
• A Counterbalance Forklift Licence (desirable but not essential. Evidence of existing licence will need to be shown if held already. (Training can be given after completion of 3 months probationary period))
• Previous experience within a warehouse, yard, builders' merchant or construction environment would be advantageous
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.

In this role, the Counterbalance Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant will be responsible for:

• First three months if without FLT Licence will be spent picking orders, serving customers, loading vans and general housekeeping)

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday: 7:30am to 4:30pm/ 08.00 to 17.00 (One hour for lunch)
• One Saturday in three: 7:30am to 12:30am

Our client is offering the successful Counterbalance Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant a competitive salary dependent on experience, plus benefits including:
