Job summary

Oxford Health NHS Trust is seeking a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to work across medium and low secure forensic mental health wards in Oxford, Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. You will provide specialist assessment, intervention and consultation for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties, helping them engage in care and progress toward recovery.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, shaping care plans and contributing to risk management, service development

Qualifications

• BSc or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy.
• HCPC registration is essential.
• Evidence of ongoing CPD is required.
• Leadership training/qualification is desirable.
• Training related to forensic populations is preferred.
• Training in use of specialist assessments/interventions is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist assessment, intervention and consultation for patients with communication and swallowing difficulties in medium/low secure settings.
• Support engagement, maximise independence and achieve recovery goals.
• Collaborate with MDT across disciplines to inform care planning and risk management.
• Lead and contribute to service development, quality improvement, and staff training initiatives.
• Help shape the future of Speech and Language Therapy within forensic mental health inpatient services.
