Job summary

Sodexo Justice Services is hiring a Forensic Psychologist in Training (FPiT) for HMP Addiewell. You will work under supervision to develop professional skills within a custodial setting and progress towards HCPC registration, delivering evidence-based interventions and assessments.

The role includes contributing to risk management, participating in multidisciplinary meetings, and supporting rehabilitation-focused outcomes while working 40 hours per week with some flexibility to meet business

• Qualified to enrol on Stage 2 for HCPC registration

Responsibilities

• Support the selection and delivery of accredited offending-behaviour interventions.
• Undertake psychological and risk-related assessments and present findings at multidisciplinary case conferences.
• Deliver moderate- and high-intensity offending-behaviour programmes in group and individual formats.
• Develop and deliver bespoke psychological interventions under the direction of the Consultant Psychologist.
• Provide psychological input within multidisciplinary meetings.
• Support the case management of individuals subject to an Order for Lifelong Restriction (OLR).
• Contribute to psychological research, projects and staff training.
• Manage psychology referrals and contribute to prisoner care needs assessment.
• Maintain accurate systems for recording, monitoring and analysing psychological activity and outcomes.
• Ensure data is managed in line with data-protection legislation and policies.
• Communicate psychological information clearly to colleagues and stakeholders.
• Contribute to creating a safe, rehabilitation-focused custodial environment.

Education

A Degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

MSc in Forensic Psychology.

BPS Stage 2 accredited Qualification in Forensic Psychology (towards HCPC registration).

Job description

Location: HMP Addiewell
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
Working Pattern: 08:00 - 16:00, with some flexibility required to meet business needs
Salary: £34,789, progressing to £40,850 once qualified

About the Role

Sodexo Justice Services is looking for a motivated and committed Forensic Psychologist in Training (FPiT) to join the psychology team at HMP Addiewell.

Working alongside a Sodexo-employed Practitioner Psychologist and under the supervision of an on-site PSUK Consultant Psychologist, you will develop your professional skills within a supportive, structured and multidisciplinary environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring forensic psychologist to gain valuable experience within a custodial setting while progressing towards professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

You will contribute to the delivery of evidence-based psychological interventions, offending-behaviour programmes, assessments and rehabilitation planning. You will also work closely with colleagues across the prison to support effective risk management and positive outcomes for individuals in custody.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• A Degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society (BPS).
• Successful completion of the academic component of training towards registered status, such as an MSc in Forensic Psychology.
• The ability and commitment to enrol on the BPS Stage 2 accredited Qualification in Forensic Psychology, working towards HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist status.
