Job summary

Forensic Testing Service, established to support childcare proceedings in the family court system, is seeking a Development Scientist on a maternity cover basis. The role focuses on developing, validating and implementing new test methods in the laboratory, with SOP creation and training of staff on new procedures.

You will assist with investigations, troubleshooting, and providing specialist analytical advice, while maintaining high standards of safety and documentation as per ISO17025 and

Qualifications

• Chemistry, Forensic Science or Toxicology Degree is required.
• Good Laboratory Practice knowledge is required.
• Knowledge and experience of using LC-MS/MS.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Carry out agreed work plans to develop, validate and implement new test methods in the laboratories, creating SOPs and training staff on new methods.
• Participate in analytical investigations, troubleshooting and support for the analytical service.
• Communicate complex information to service users in line with procedures and provide specialist analytical advice as needed.
• Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of analytical equipment to minimise downtime.
• Support analytical development training for scientists in the laboratory.
