Job summary

Braemar Medical Recruitment is seeking registered nurses and paramedics for a forensic custody healthcare role in the Oxford area. You will assess, treat and support detainees with a range of physical and mental health needs within police custody and the wider justice system.

This flexible contract offers clinical autonomy, varied shifts including days and nights, 24/7 service, and a clear development pathway with accredited forensic training. Full UK registration required.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Paramedic with current HCPC registration.
• At least 3 years' post-qualification experience in acute or relevant healthcare.
• Ability to work autonomously in high-pressure custody settings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical and capacity assessments and determine fitness for detention.
• Manage medical emergencies and acute healthcare needs.
• Support detainees with mental health, substance misuse, and complex vulnerabilities.
• Document forensic samples and maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate care with police, custody teams and NHS services.
• Attend court as an impartial healthcare witness when required.
