Job summary

Mountain Healthcare is recruiting Forensic Custody Healthcare Professionals (RGNs and Paramedics) to deliver specialist healthcare within police custody. No custody experience required as full accredited training is provided.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with NMC registration or Paramedic with HCPC registration.
• Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in an acute or custody setting.
• Ability to work autonomously with strong assessment and decision-making skills.
• Full UK driving licence with few penalty points.
• Ability to pass enhanced DBS clearance and police vetting.
• Right to work in the UK with 3 years residency.
• Willingness to complete forensic training in year one.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fitness-for-detention assessments and prepare accurate records.
• Manage medical emergencies with rapid decision-making in custody.
• Support detainees with mental health needs and complex vulnerabilities.
• Collect, preserve and document forensic samples per evidential standards.
• Liaise with police, custody teams and NHS to ensure safe onward care.
• Attend hospital procedures and provide impartial healthcare testimony when required.
• Produce professional statements and attend court as needed.
