Job summary

Mountain Healthcare is seeking Registered Nurses and Paramedics to join as Forensic Custody Healthcare Professionals in Salfords Custody Suite, offering autonomy and diverse clinical challenges within police custody settings.

You will assess, treat and support detainees, develop specialist forensic skills, and work with custody teams and partner agencies. Accredited training and structured development are provided.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Paramedic with HCPC registration.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points.
• Ability to obtain enhanced DBS clearance and police vetting.
• Right to work in the UK and at least three years of UK residency.
• At least three years post-qualification experience in acute or urgent care.
• Strong assessment, communication and decision-making skills, with ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments to determine fitness for detention, interview and release.
• Manage medical emergencies and provide healthcare advice in a custody setting.
• Support detainees with mental health needs, substance misuse and vulnerabilities.
• Collect, preserve and document forensic samples in line with evidential standards.
• Document accurate clinical and evidential records including injuries.
• Liaise with police, custody teams and NHS services to support onward care.
• Attend hospital blood procedures and participate as a healthcare witness when required.
