Job summary

Mountain Healthcare is seeking Registered Nurses or Paramedics to join as Forensic Custody Healthcare Professionals in a high‑duty custody setting. You’ll assess, treat and safeguard detainees, documenting clinical and evidential information with accuracy and independence.

Training is provided; no prior custody experience is required. Expect varied shifts, professional development, and collaboration with police, custody teams and partner agencies to support welfare and vital custody decisions.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Paramedic with HCPC registration
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points
• Ability to complete enhanced DBS clearance and police vetting
• Full right to work in the UK and a minimum of three years’ UK residency prior to application

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments to determine fitness for detention, interview and release
• Manage medical emergencies and provide healthcare advice in a custody environment
• Support detainees with mental health needs and complex vulnerabilities
• Collect, preserve and document forensic samples in line with evidential standards
• Produce accurate clinical and evidential records and injury documentation
• Liaise with police, custody teams and NHS services for safe onward care
• Attend hospital blood procedures under the Road Traffic Act
• Prepare statements and attend court as a healthcare witness when required
