Job summary

Mountain Healthcare Ltd is recruiting registered general nurses and paramedics for the Maidenhead Custody Suite. You will assess detainees for fitness to be detained, interviewed or charged, treat acute medical episodes and provide healthcare advice in a fast-paced custody setting.

The role offers full or part-time shifts with accredited forensic training provided, so no custody background is needed. A joining bonus up to £1,500 pro rata, pension, and enhanced overtime rates are included.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration as a registered general nurse, or current HCPC registration as a paramedic.
• At least three years' experience in an acute setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess fitness for detention, interview, charge and release with capacity considerations
• Care for detainees with physical health, mental health, substance misuse and vulnerability needs
• Manage medical emergencies and provide healthcare advice in a fast-paced custody environment
• Support safeguarding decisions and detainee welfare
• Collect and document forensic samples to evidential and legal standards
• Produce accurate clinical and evidential records and injury documentation
• Liaise with police, custody teams, NHS and other services to arrange onward care
• Attend hospital blood procedures under the Road Traffic Act
• Prepare professional statements and attend court as a healthcare witness
• Work autonomously within police custody suites
