Job summary

Mountain Healthcare, delivering healthcare services in police custody suites, is seeking a nurse or paramedic to assess and care for detainees with complex physical and mental health needs. The role involves fitness for detention, forensic sampling, injury documentation, and acting as an impartial witness in court.

You will work on a 24/7 shift pattern, require NMC or HCPC registration, at least three years post-qualification experience, and three years UK residency.

Qualifications

• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making in custody settings.
• Autonomous working with vulnerable detainees and fast-paced environments.
• Registration with NMC or HCPC and DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assess and care for detainees with complex health needs in custody suites.
• Assess fitness for detention, interview and release, including capacity checks.
• Manage medical emergencies and document injuries to evidential standards.
• Liaise with custody teams, police and NHS services for safe onward care.
• Prepare statements and attend court as an impartial healthcare witness.
